6-month-old killed by gunfight in NW Atlanta

A gunfight between two people in northwestern Atlanta has left an innocent 6-month-old shot and killed.

Atlanta police officers were dispatched to Anderson Avenue NW and Tiger Flowers Drive on Monday afternoon around 2:35PM. Officers discovered the infant had been shot in a vehicle during a drive by incident but was not the intended target. The bullet came from the back of the vehicle and hit the infant, reports say.

The infant, who was later identified as Grayson Fleming, was taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital but died of his injuries. Atlanta law enforcement officials worked over a 24-hour period to investigate new leads and find the suspect(s). On Tuesday, police announced a $5,000 dollar reward and a video of the suspected vehicle in a news release. The release said, “The vehicle in question, (the second vehicle seen in the footage*) appears to be a light in color (possibly grey or white) Jeep SUV.” That vehicle was located by an another Atlanta agency. During the most recent press conference, police said a 22-year-old person was arrested and more arrests could be made.

This is the 3rd child shot in Atlanta this year, and the second child murdered this year.
