Valley Police are investigating the first homicide of the year for Chambers County leaving one teen deceased and another in custody.
Valley Police responded to 5800 19th Avenue around 5:30PM central time on January 29th in reference to a shooting. A 16-years-old teen was found unresponsive on the floor of his bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the torso. EAFD EMS entered the scene and pronounced him deceased.
The scene was turned over to Valley Investigators who processed the scene and interviewed witnesses and the shooter. “The shooter, a 17-year-old male of Valley, and the witnesses told Investigators that the 17-year-old was attempting to unload the weapon when it fired and that the shooting was accidental,” police said. “Charges are pending and this case is still under investigation.”
