57-year-old man found shot to death in Lee County Road 140 woodline

A homicide investigation is underway after a 57-year-old man was found shot to death in a wood-line off of Lee County Road 140.

The investigation began when a 911 call was made around 4:26 PM central time where the caller reported to have found a body in a wooded area off Lee Road 140 Salem near Griffen Mill.

“Responding deputies arrived and confirmed that the body was that of an adult male who was situated in the wood line approximately 60 yards behind a house in the 1600 block of Lee Road 140,” the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s investigators were called to the scene and discovered that the deceased had suffered what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced the 57-year-old male victim deceased at the scene.

The victim has been transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a post mortem examination.
