Columbus teen jailed after three domestic violence incidents in two-week period

A Columbus teen is finally behind Muscogee County Jail bars after three domestic violence incidents in a two week period.

The first incident occurred on July 21, 2022, when officers from the Columbus Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 3390 North Lumpkin Road in reference to a domestic dispute involving a male party attempting to harm a 3-month-old baby.

That investigation led to a Simple Battery (Family Violence) warrant being obtained for Derrien Deas (B/M/17).

Then on July 23, 2022, officers from the Columbus Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 3390 North Lumpkin Road in reference to another domestic dispute involving Derrien Deas.  This incident involved physical violence and the use of a firearm.

At this time the following warrants were obtained for Derrien Deas:

  • Kidnapping
  • Home Invasion
  • Simple Battery
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime

Finally, on August 4, 2022, officers from the Columbus Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Kevin Court in reference to Derrien Deas being involved in another dispute involving the same victim. This incident also involved physical violence and the use of a handgun.

The following warrants were obtained for Derrien Deas:

  • Home Invasion
  • Battery (Family Violence)
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The Columbus Police Department & the Russell County Sheriff’s Office located Deas at a residence in Russell County Alabama on August 5, 2022.  Deas was taken into custody and booked into the Russell County Jail.

Deas waived extradition and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the Muscogee County Recorder’s Court on August 18, 2022, at 9:00 A.M.
