Female suspect arrested in October 2021 murder on 47th Street in Columbus

A murder and aggravated assault suspect has officially been charged nearly 10 months later, jail records have confirmed.

Columbus police patrol officers, paramedics, and firefighters were dispatched in the area of Holly Avenue and 47th Street on the afternoon of October 12th in 2021 where they found three people shot, one of which later died.

41-year-old Lorenzo Vasquez-Lopez was pronounced deceased by a Piedmont Columbus Regional emergency room physician at 6:37 P.M. Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison worked the death report. The two other victims have recovered from their injuries.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Mikita Leonard, was booked into the Muscogee County Jail at 2:30 P.M. on August 12th, 2022. Leonard is charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. A mugshot of Leonard hasn’t been released. 

Homicide investigators continue doing hard work as this is the second murder suspect to be arrested in two days.
