Two arrested after drugs found within reach of three children inside a ‘deplorable’ home

A Columbus man and woman are facing charges after an investigation was conducted during a sex offender check by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Task Force.

Tony Aguilar and Kristy Hurst were both charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession and Use of a Drug Related Object, and Reckless Conduct.

Deputies seized 12.5 grams of methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $2,250.00. There were three children in the residence, within reach of the narcotics.

The conditions in which these children were living in were deplorable. DFACS was notified and the three children were removed from the residence. This case is still under investigation.

“The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate the mistreatment of children,” Sheriff Greg Countryman said. “We must set a better example for our youth. We ask that you keep these young people in your prayers at this time.”
