A Macon County fire agency is without a fire engine after a motor vehicle collision early Wednesday morning.

Shorter Volunteer Fire Department crews responded to an accident involving a car hauler on I-85 southbound at Mile Post 21 with no injuries when a second accident occurred involved a Shorter Fire Department Engine.

A tractor trailer breeched the safety zone which had been established striking the department’s Engine 401.  There were no injuries to any fire personnel.
