Troup County deputies are investigating a large fight which occurred in the parking lot of Callaway Middle School, as well as reports of shots fired, which were deemed false.

The incident began when, today, November 30, at 8:12 PM, the deputy assigned as the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Callaway Middle School who was providing security for a basketball game, notified Troup County 911  that he needed additional deputies to his location in regards to a large fight that was breaking out.

About two minutes later several 911 calls were received stating that unknown person(s) possible had a gun in the parking lot and that shots were fired.

Once deputies arrived and spoke to those on scene, it is believed at this time that no shots were in fact fired.

No one was injured in this incident and the case is being investigated further by the SRO and Troup County School System.
