Columbus officers arrest two juveniles connected to stolen Phenix City vehicle

Two juveniles are now facing charges after the Columbus Police Department’s Patrol Unit was advised that a vehicle stolen in Phenix City, AL was in Columbus on January 18, 2023 at 10:13 p.m. Officers located the vehicle at the end of Cross Tie Court and began searching for the suspects.

An officer found the two juvenile suspects in the wooded area behind Walmart on Gateway Road. One suspect surrendered to the officer and the other fled. Officers who were already in the area responded quickly and apprehended the 2nd suspect.

Along with the arrests of two juveniles, two stolen firearms and a stolen vehicle were recovered. The following charges were made:

Suspect 1 had warrants for Armed Robbery (SB440), Hijacking of a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Firearm During the commission of a crime. New charges include Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm Under the Age of 18, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.

Suspect 2 was arrested for Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into the State, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property Firearm, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm Under the Age of 18, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.
