After nearly two years since the remains of a Columbus person were located in a wooded area, the identity has been revealed.
Back in late February and early March of 2021, remains, including a skull, were located behind the Dunkin’ Donuts donut shop on Veterans Parkway. Months later, with still no leads, Columbus detectives released a sketch of what the unidentified individual looked like before his death.
Then a break in the case, when authorities were able to identify the remains as Matthew Turner. Turner went missing at the age of 41, in 2019, from the Front Avenue area. Today, he would have been 44.
Turner‘a cause of death and manner of death was ruled undetermined by a medical examiner, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirms. The father was notified.
