Weekend operation in Muscogee County leaves 38 people in jail

Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 38 individuals during a weekend operation, including 8 validated gang members.

In response to recent gun violence in Muscogee County, the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an operation over the weekend to address violent street crime involving gangs.

The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Troup County Sheriff’s Office, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Customs and Border Protection also provided air support.

The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a total of 38 individuals charged with 50 felony charges, including the arrests of 8 validated gang members. The MCSO seized 17 firearms from the hands of those who should not have them – 3 of which were reported stolen. The MCSO also seized a variety of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, mushrooms, pills, and marijuana.
