
Columbus detectives have arrested a gunman in connection the murder of a woman at a mobile home park several days ago.
Columbus Police Officers responded to the 900 block of Joy Road concerning a shooting on March 25, 2023 around 12:03 a.m. Officers arrived and found a female, later identified as Sharon Johnson, 63, suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence.
EMS could not resuscitate Johnson. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan arrived on the scene and pronounced Johnson deceased at 1:15 a.m.
The Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to take lead on the investigation.
During the investigation, probable cause was established to issue warrants for the suspect, Dominique Vangue, 29. He was arrested and charged with murder, five counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Vangue was hospitalized for injuries he sustained during the incident. Vangue was released from the hospital and transported to the Muscogee County Jail on March 28, 2023.
He is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
