A horrific update has been released by officials Monday morning after a shooting occurred in Columbus.

The shooting occurred at 3390 North Lumpkin Road, which is the address of Liberty Commons Apartments. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says a four-year-old child, identified as Jacques Walker, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on scene at 8:50 A.M.

One person was also injured in the shooting. They are in critical condition. Violent Crimes investigators are on the scene.

There is a heavy police presence, with SWAT team officers on Morris Road, but it is unclear if the two scenes are connected.
