UPDATE: A crash involving a train occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, has resulted in the injury of two individuals. Gwendolyn D. Enzlow, 49, of Montgomery was injured when the 2014 Nissan Cube she was driving was struck at a railroad crossing by a Norfolk Southern train. Enzlow was transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Ga., for treatment. A passenger in the vehicle, a 6-year-old, also of Montgomery, was injured and transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment. The crash occurred on Lee County 633 near U.S. 280, approximately seven miles east of Opelika, in Lee County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

Lee County EMA says the railway crossing at Lee Road 633 will be shutdown for an unknown amount of time due to the wreck.
Drivers can expect delays on Highway 280 near Lee Road 633 due to emergency personnel, including Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County EMA, Lifesaver 3, and Salem Volunteer Fire Department, are in the area.
