A Lee County Corrections Deputy is hospitalized in critical condition after a late Tuesday night motor vehicle collision in Salem.
The collision occurred around 10 P.M. central standard time on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Lee Road 175 and US Highway 280 in Salem community. ALEA state troopers, EAMC ETS medics, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and Salem and Smiths Station firefighters all responded to the scene. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. The driver of the passenger vehicle, who is a Lee County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Deputy was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam 77 to Piedmont Columbus Regional.
“He is a member of our LCSO family,” Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said. “Our prayers are with him, his family, and the medical staff who are treating him.”
The corrections deputy remains in the intensive care unit awaiting surgery.
