A homicide investigation is underway Tuesday evening in the parking lot of a Phenix City Synovus Bank location.

The investigation is taking place at Synovus Bank at 1000 13th Street in downtown Phenix City. Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. says a male, later identified as 23-year-old Ryan S. Boles, was pronounced dead on scene at 9:24 P.M. from what appears to be a gunshot wound.

The Phenix City Police Department Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and started an investigation.

His body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.
