Search warrant at Columbus hotel leaves three arrested, police say 

A search warrant Monday afternoon at a Columbus hotel has left three men facing charges.

The search warrant was obtained after police patrol units were called to the Budgetel Inn and Suites in Columbus to investigate the occupants of a room on April 29, 2024 around 1:30 p.m. The fugitive unit also responded to the scene to assist patrol. 

“Once the Fugitive Unit arrived and subsequently obtained a search warrant for a hotel room,” police said. “Upon executing the search warrant with patrol and the Violent Crimes Unit, two Glock handguns were located. One of the Glock handguns was reported stolen and also had a switch on it to make it a machine gun.” 

26.8 grams of marijuana was also recovered.

Demetreus Heard was charged with Criminal Damage to Property, 2nd warrant, Battery, Family Violence warrant, and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Machine gun.

Jamaal Scott was charged with Violation of Probation, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Machine gun. 

William Brown was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Machine gun.
