Phenix City investigators have arrested the son of a Phenix City man after a deadly shooting.

The shooting occurred at 2 P.M. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at The District of Phenix City apartment complex between Chattahoochee Valley Community College and Highway 431 on College Drive.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. says 52-year-old Christopher Bernard Womack, of Phenix City, was pronounced dead at 2:43 P.M. from a gunshot wound. 

Police say 22-year-old Christopher Justin Womack, the victim’s son, was taken into custody and charged with murder.

Additional charges are expected as the investigation is active and ongoing.
