UPDATE 1: Woman who passed away in Christmas morning Columbus fire has been identified as 46-year-old Valerie Lindsey.

Original story: A deadly Christmas morning apartment fire is under investigation.

The fire occurred at 4312 Old Macon Road — Westover Glen condominiums — around 5 A.M. on Christmas Day.

Columbus Fire Marshal and Division Chief John Shull said one known fatality has been confirmed.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says a 46-year-old female was pronounced deceased. Her identity is known, but will not released as the next of kin has not been notified.

“Because it was an apartment and about four units were affected we believe right now that approximately 12 people were displaced,” Shull added.

The scene on Old Macon Road remains active this morning and the investigation into the fire is underway.
