Harris County father and son killed at golf course after tree falls during severe storm

A Harris County father and son enjoying their day at a Midland golf course have died after a tree fell.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says the father and son were killed when they were taking refuge under a tree while in their golf cart at Bull Creek Golf Course on Lynch Road. The severe weather and winds caused the tree to fall on them causing blunt force trauma.

The father, identified as 58-year-old Matthew Terrell Collins, Sr., and the son, identified as 29-year-old Matthew Terrell Collins, Jr., both from Harris County, were pronounced deceased at 6:06 P.M. by coroner officials, Bryan confirmed.

Their family has been notified.
