An investigation is now underway after an altercation in Harris County Monday night left one dead.

The incident occurred in the 600 block of Green Ridge Road on Monday, June 16, 2025, during the evening hours, in the Cataula community of Harris County.

Harris County Coroner Joe Weldon identified the deceased individual as Daniel McCourt, who is in his 40s. McCourt was pronounced deceased and taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations for an autopsy.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations was spotted on the scene, and according to the Public Affairs Office of the agency, they were assisting Harris County Sheriff’s Office with crime scene processing only.
