Community outraged after firing of employee, concern about HIPAA violations

A viral social media post from a former employee has led to community outrage in Lee County and the concern of potential HIPAA violations.

The viral social media post, posted by Amber Hester, of Lee County, stated she was fired from Lee Obstetrics and Gynecology (Lee OBGYN) ‘after being arrested for a Failure to Appear (FTA) related to a court date she allegedly was not allowed to attend by her supervisor.’

The poster describes, along with posting videos, of a clinic administrator and human resource manager following her while retrieving her belongings. In the social media post, which has been posted on multiple platforms, the poster describes a former team lead of inappropriate behavior.

The post also alleges that Lee OBGYN’s leadership ‘enables misconduct and mistreatment of employees.’

Following nearly 48 hours since the accusations — and after the videos gained over a million views — Lee OBGYN released a statement “in response to the current statements on social media from our former employee.”

Lee OBGYN states they ‘vigorously dispute’ with the claims and ‘are addressing in the proper forum.’

“The confidentiality of patient information is and always has been of utmost importance to our practice. We require all employees to sign a HIPAA confidentiality agreement and to follow HIPAA requirements,” the medical office said. “We take our obligation to protect and secure your health information seriously. Our mission will continue to be to provide quality, attentive and compassionate care to women in our surrounding areas.”

According to incident media logs from October 28, 2025, Auburn police did respond to a harassment at 2300 Champions Boulevard. No arrests were made in connection to the harassment.

This is a developing story.
