Auburn University assures no threat to campus after alerts sent in error

Thursday morning, Auburn University staff, students, and parents received multiple AU Alerts that were sent in error.

The alerts, including a “hazardous material alert,” a “tornado warning,” and an “active shooter alert”, were mistakenly issued through the university’s emergency notification system due to a technical malfunction.

“You may keep receiving these messages,” the university said in a statement. “We are working with RAVE to resolve the issue.”

Officials confirmed there is no threat to the campus or the community.
