More than a week after videos from a former employee went viral on social media, a local OBGYN practice has filed a lawsuit alleging defamation, breach of contract, and tortious interference with business relations.

On October 29, former employee Amber Hester posted videos to Facebook and TikTok claiming she was fired from Lee OBGYN after being arrested for Failure to Appear (FTA) related to a court date she says she was not allowed to attend by her supervisor.

In her posts and accompanying videos, Hester describes a clinic administrator and human resources manager following her as she retrieved her belongings. The posts also include allegations of inappropriate behavior involving a former team lead.

Following the viral posts, Lee OBGYN issued a statement on Facebook saying it was “vigorously disputing” the claims and was “addressing them in the proper forum.”

On November 5, 2025, CNAW2News.com obtained a copy of the complaint filed by Lee OBGYN against Hester.

Details from the Complaint

According to the filing, Lee OBGYN alleges that Hester was terminated for “undisclosed criminal history and dishonest behavior.” The complaint further states that after her termination, Hester “entered onto Lee OB’s property without express permission and, while her minor son filmed her, made a defamatory speech to a waiting room full of patients.”

The lawsuit references videos and social media posts in which Hester allegedly claimed that patients “should be wary because a Lee employee tries to ‘sleep with’ the husbands of the patients,” and that she had been “arrested due to the actions of Lee OB and its employees, and then wrongfully fired after being arrested.”

Lee OBGYN asserts that these statements were false and that Hester “knew them to be false when she made them.”

The complaint states that the posts and videos have caused “major harm to [the practice’s] business and reputation, harassment of Lee OB and its employees, and threats to Lee OB’s very ability to provide effective patient care.” As a result, the practice is seeking both injunctive relief and monetary damages.

Background on Termination

The filing claims that Hester was scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on October 1 for a “six-month review” related to a criminal assault charge stemming from an alleged altercation involving a family member. According to the complaint, Hester reported to work that day “as if it was business as usual,” missed her hearing, and was later arrested after a bench warrant was issued for failure to appear.

Lee OBGYN states that following her arrest, it began investigating her criminal background and the circumstances surrounding it, which led to her termination. The complaint alleges that Hester failed to disclose her criminal history during hiring and that, had the practice known about it, her offer of employment “would have been revoked immediately.”

Impact on the Practice

Since the videos were posted, Lee OBGYN claims it has faced a “staggering” volume of phone calls, messages, and online complaints, which it says have disrupted daily operations and affected its ability to provide patient care.

The complaint states that staff members have been forced to spend time addressing “bogus complaints” and sorting through online reviews to determine whether any were from legitimate patients. According to the filing, the practice “has thus far been unable to confirm that even one of its recent ‘reviews’ is from a legitimate patient.”

Lee OBGYN also claims it sent Hester a cease-and-desist letter requesting that she remove the allegedly defamatory posts. The complaint states that instead of removing them, Hester “ignored Lee OB entirely, then doubled down and reposted the defamatory content for a second time.”

The Counts

Defamation

Lee OBGYN alleges that Hester negligently, recklessly, or intentionally made false public statements about its business and employment practices. Specifically, the complaint cites false claims that an employee used patient information to pursue affairs with patients’ husbands and that Hester was wrongfully terminated. The practice asserts that these statements damaged its reputation and goodwill, resulting in financial harm.

Breach of Contract

The complaint states that Hester signed a valid employment agreement containing confidentiality provisions regarding business operations and internal communications. Lee OBGYN claims it upheld its contractual obligations but that Hester breached the agreement by posting confidential information on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Tortious Interference with Business Relations

Lee OBGYN alleges that Hester intentionally interfered with its existing and prospective relationships with patients in East Alabama by making false and defamatory statements about the practice and its employees. The practice claims her actions were unjustified and caused direct harm to its business.

Current Status
