UPDATE: The Medical Examiner confirms the woman died of natural causes — not a dog attack, CPD says. Her injuries from the dogs were post-mortem. CPD urges the public to rely on verified facts as the investigation continues. DETAILS

The scene is taking place on Josephine Street, where officials with Columbus police, Columbus Fire and EMS, and the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office are on scene.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed a 68-year-old female was mauled to death by her and her husbands seven dogs.

Bryan said it was a very gruesome scene.

The husband was not injured in the attack, and the female was found by her husband and granddaughter.

The death investigation remains ongoing.
