Structure fire reported on Lee Road 201 overnight in Salem

Smiths Station Fire Protection District, Salem Fire Department, and Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an overnight structure fire.

The fire was reported around 4 A.M. eastern on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in the 2400 block of Lee Road 201.

According to Smiths Station Fire Chief Blake Green, his agency assisted Salem Fire Department with the fire, where the first units to arrive found heavy fire and smoke coming through the roof.

Lee County deputies who were on scene confirmed the occupants had evacuated the house before fire units arrived.

Due to the active fire operations, firefighters prevented the fire from extending to neighboring houses. Unfortunately, the residence that did catch on fire was deemed a total loss.

One civilian was evaluated on scene by Medic 1, and no first responders were injured. The American Red Cross has been notified with assisting the family.

It is unclear how the fire started.
