Officials are investigating after a Columbus man died after collapsing in the roadway and then struck multiple times by vehicles.

The incident happened around 7:15 P.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, when the pedestrian was crossing the road, collapsed on his own in the eastbound lanes on River Road. Subsequently, the pedestrian was then struck by three different vehicles, as a passerby tried to wave down vehicles to no avail.

The pedestrian, later identified as 48-year-old Adam White, was pronounced deceased on scene at 7:35 p.m. from blunt force trauma.

Cameras in the area caught the entire incident unfold. White will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy.

CNAW2News.com did not locate any civilian vehicles on scene. The investigation into the deadly incident is being led by the Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad.
