Harris County deputies and Georgia State Patrol troopers had a wild morning after a high speed chase ended in north Columbus.

Deputies initially attempted to stop a Honda Accord for traffic violations on Interstate 185 southbound near mile marker 23 during the morning hours of Sunday, January 4, 2025. The driver refused to stop and rapidly accelerated, prompting a vehicle pursuit. Harris County deputies requested assistance from Georgia State Patrol troopers who were working nearby on I-185.

A GSP trooper assumed primary responsibility for the pursuit as it continued southbound. Authorities say the driver operated the vehicle recklessly, exiting onto State Route 315 before re-entering I-185. During the pursuit, the suspect drove southbound in the northbound lanes, crossed the median, and re-entered the correct lanes of travel.

The pursuit continued at a high rate of speed before the suspect exited onto Smith Road. The driver then traveled south in the northbound lanes of Veterans Parkway before eventually returning to the proper lanes. Due to the ongoing danger to the public, another GSP trooper became primary and executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver.

The maneuver was successful, causing the vehicle to cross the median and come under control. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot while it was still moving. Troopers pursued the suspect into a wooded area, where a K9 unit was deployed. After verbal K9 warnings were issued, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Harris County jail records confirm the driver, identified as 26-year-old Arrison Scott Rahming, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and aggressive driving. A Georgia State Patrol cruiser and the suspect’s white sedan was damaged in the chase and towed away from the scene.

Rahming had multiple outstanding felony warrants from several agencies and was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. His mugshot was not yet available.
