Toddler killed, three kids injured in Macon County crash

A toddler was killed and three other children were wounded in a serious two-vehicle crash in Macon County.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2025, on Macon County Road 51 just south of the Franklin community. It involved a 2021 Ford commercial truck and a 2020 Nissan Altima.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Nissan Altima was driven by a 33-year-old Tuskegee resident, identified as Ranzi Marranco Cowan Jr., and was occupied by four children when it was struck by the Ford commercial truck driven by a 24-year-old Montgomery resident, identified as Amber Joelynn Wynn.

The children included a one-year-old, two two-year-olds, and an eight-year-old. One of the two-year-olds was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The other three children were transported to area hospitals for further treatment.

The driver of the Altima was not injured during the course of the crash.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
