A bond hearing has been scheduled for the suspect arrested in a Brookstone subdivision murder.
Antanvious Butler was arrested on October 7, 2025, after 65-year-old Norman Lane was found shot and killed at his home on Brookstone Boulevard the night before.

Butler was charged with home invasion in the first degree, murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Butler appeared in Judge David Ranieri’s courtroom for his first appearance on October 10, 2025, where Judge Ranieri ruled Butler to be held without bond and Butler pled not guilty. The case was moved to Superior Court.
According to a report from WTVM News Leader 9, investigators testified that on the night of October 6, a witness in the Brookstone neighborhood saw a white Dodge Charger repeatedly drive past and stop several times in front of Lane’s home. The witness said someone got out of the car but could not be identified due to the headlights. Shortly after, the witness heard two loud “pops,” similar to trash can lids banging together.
Police used neighborhood security cameras and citywide Flock cameras, which read license plates, to track the vehicle. Footage showed the white Charger crossing the Alabama state line on the morning of October 7.
Investigators also testified that Butler filed a police report on October 7 claiming his Charger had been damaged while parked in Atlanta. He was later located and arrested at Wilson Apartments off Manchester Expressway in Columbus.
According to the report, on October 8, a search warrant of Butler’s vehicle led to the discovery of a shotgun wrapped in a towel in the trunk, along with shotgun shells that matched those found at the scene.
Butler first appeared in court on October 10, 2025, and during that appearance Judge David Ranieri ruled Butler to be held without bond and the case was bound over to superior court.
According to Muscogee County ECourt Portal, Butler will appear in Judge Bobby Peters’ courtroom for bond hearing at 9 a.m. on January 13, 2026.
