Barricaded gunman surrenders after domestic standoff at West Point apartments

A barricaded gunman surrendered this morning after an overnight domestic standoff at a West Point apartment complex.

The incident began at 2:05 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, after a caller alleged that her boyfriend, identified as Jarquavious Jamerious Williams, was holding her and her two children, a three-month-old and a two-year-old, against their will in an apartment at Happy Hallow Apartments.

Police say the victim told them she and Williams had gotten into a verbal and physical altercation, after she attempted to leave the residence.

During the altercation, Williams brandished weapon, barricaded the door to the residence and was alleged to have stated that he would, “kill anyone that came or attempted to enter the residence, including the police.

A perimeter was established at Happy Hollow Apartments by the West Point Police Department.

“It was determined that due to the alleged statements made by Williams and the fact that he had barricaded the occupants inside the apartment, the LaGrange Police were contacted regarding tactical assistance of their Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit,” police said.

While responding officers of the LaGrange Police Department were ongoing, Williams telephonically contacted a family member and suggested that he was willing to surrender to police.

Shortly thereafter, Williams exited that apartment front door and surrendered to West Police and was taken into custody without incident. During the search of the apartment, police located an AR style pistol was recovered with a loaded 30 round magazine.

Williams was arrested and charged with one count battery FVA, aggravated assault FVA, cruelty to children 3rd degree FVA, possession of firearm during certain crime, false imprisonment, and terroristic threats.
