Multi-vehicle crash shuts down I-85 South in Macon County

UPDATE: Roadway reopen.

A multi-vehicle crash has shut down Interstate 85 in Macon County this morning.

The crash occurred at I-85 near mile marker 25 around 9:40 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026.

Both southbound lanes are currently closed and will be for an undetermined amount of time.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are currently on scene investigating.

This is the second crash this morning on this section of the interstate.
