The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a deadly crash in Lee County over the weekend.

The crash occurred at 1:14 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, when a 2023 Cadillac XT6 left the roadway and struck a tree in the area of the 101 mile marker on Alabama Highway 51. The driver, identified as Fatima Mount, 59, and passenger, Ann Moreira, 85, both of Auburn, were injured and taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown campus.

Moreira died from her injuries on Monday, Jan. 26, at 3:28 p.m. Mount’s condition is unknown.

Highway patrol troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
