A Columbus woman has died after a house fire.

The fire occurred on Thursday, Jan. 29, in the 5600 block of Lexington Drive.

Several firefighters and members of the Columbus Fire and EMS Community Risk Reduction team were spotted on scene.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said 74-year-old Janice Ferguson died from smoke inhalation.

The home appears to have smoke damage in the area of the attic. An investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
