Possible chase ends in crash in downtown Phenix City

A possible chase has ended in a crash in downtown Phenix City.

The chase ended in the 2300 block of Summerville Road, just north of 23rd Street.

It appears a black sedan wrecked out and damaged multiple objects along the roadway. The front end of the sedan appears to have damage.

Multiple Russell County deputies and Phenix City police officers are on scene. A CARE Ambulance was spotted arriving on scene as our crews arrived, and they left a short time later.

Deputies were seen searching the sedan and at least one investigator appeared to be carrying multiple evidence bags. Russell County District Attorney Rick Chancey also arrived on the scene.

An Alabama Power truck is on scene investigating a damaged power pole.

Pieces of vehicle and debris remain at the scene. The roadway was shut down for some time, but is now reopen.
