Enterprise police and investigators arrested the mother of a missing toddler for false reported.

The Enterprise Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon that Adrienne Reid, age 33, has been charged with False Reporting to Law Enforcement Authorities, a Class C felony, following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the initial missing-child report involving her daughter, two-year-old Genesis Reid.

According to police, Reid reported her daughter missing at approximately 3:10 a.m. on February 16, stating the child was missing and the front door of their residence was open.

“The initial search of the surrounding area did not produce any information regarding the child’s whereabouts,” police said. “As the investigation progressed, detectives identified inconsistencies in the information provided, prompting a more intensive investigation.”

The Enterprise Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Marshals Service, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and additional local, state, and federal partners remain actively engaged in investigative and search efforts.

Police say that she is not considered a suspect at this time. Anyone with information regarding her identity or location is urged to contact authorities.

“The spread of misinformation surrounding the case, noting that speculation and unverified claims circulating online can interfere with an active investigation,” police said. The public is encouraged to rely on official updates released by the Enterprise Police Department.

A coordinated search effort remains underway.

Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Genesis Reid is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.
