Firefighters have extinguished a fire at a Russell County elementary school today.

The fire broke out at Oliver Elementary School, on Longview Street in downtown Seale, around 12:35 p.m. eastern time on Monday, March 2, 2026.

Mount Olive, Fort Mitchell, Uchee Creek, Seale, Hatchechubbee volunteer fire departments, along with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and CARE Ambulance responded to the scene.

The fire was determined to be electrical and has been extinguished.

All students and staff were safely evacuated and at this time, no student checkouts are allowed, according to the Russell County School District.

Currently, the building is being inspected. This is a developing story.
