LaGrange man dies days after Lee County crash

A LaGrange man has died following a serious crash last Friday.

The crash, which involved a 2015 Chevrolet Impala occurred on Friday, April 3, 2026, around 7:45 p.m., on Lee Road 379 at Lee Road 2213 in Lee County.

The crash occurred when the Impala left the road, overturned and struck a tree.

The driver, Cashton X. Canady, 25, was critically injured and transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional – Midtown in Columbus for medical treatment. On Sunday, April 5, Canady succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased while at the hospital.

Jameria L. Johnson, 23, of Opelika, who was a passenger in the Impala, was also injured and transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional – Midtown for medical treatment. Her current condition is unknown.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
