A Phenix City man has died following a shooting overnight.

The shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, on Old State Road near George Williams Road.

33-year-old Timothy Harris was pronounced dead in the Piedmont Columbus Regional Intensive Care Unit at 9:12 a.m., according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

Harris died from a gunshot wound sustained during “some type of altercation with his brother,” Sumbry said.

Harris will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy on Tuesday.

The case remains under investigation by the Phenix City Police Department.
