First responders are on the scene of a developing incident at this hour in Smiths Station.

A gas line was struck by construction crews in the area of Mullins Road (Lee Road 246) near Lee Road 222. The line was hit around 1:20 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Spire Energy is on the scene and has indicated the repairs will take several hours, according to Smiths Station Fire Chief Blake Green.

People are being asked to avoid the area and use caution until crews can make necessary repairs.
