Columbus police are investigating a deadly shooting Thursday evening.

The incident occurred at a home on McCartha Drive, just off of Steam Mill Road. Police were initially reported to be at the home around 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said he is on the scene.

Bryan confirmed a 25-year-old male was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at 7:15 p.m.

According to Bryan, police do have a person of interest involved in the shooting.

McCartha Drive remains blocked off while the police department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues their investigation.
