Birthday celebration for LaGrange homicide victim leads to triple shooting
CNAW News 2 has learned new information involving a triple shooting in the city of LaGrange late Friday night.
The shooting took place at an event, where plenty of teens were gathered, at 1009 Hogansville Road, which is Mason’s World. Mason’s World is a bar and grill, according to Facebook.
The shooting left three people as victims, two 16-year-old males were found at LaGrange Car Wash on Vernon Road and a 17-year-old female was found at the scene. One 16-year-old, identified as Laquan Dewberry, was shot in the upper torso area and was pronounced deceased at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. The other 16-year-old was shot in leg but was treated and subsequently released.
The 17-year-old female suffered non life threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to Well Star West Georgia Medical Center where she was subsequently treated and released.
It appears the shooting incident occurred at the end of a “teen” gathering at this location. The teen gathering was later identified as a birthday party for Nydarrian Laye. Laye was shot and killed at Lindsey Street Park on Lindsey Street back on March 10, 2022. A second person was found shot at the shooting scene in March, who was later identified as Lasabyan Mikal Harden. Laye and Harden were both shot during an altercation at the Lindsey Street Park during an attempted drug transaction Harden shot Laye, who in return, returned fire striking Harden in the leg. Harden was charged with one count of felony murder stemming from this incident.
The birthday party invite asked to leave all drama at home. As the event was ending at least two groups of teens became engaged in an altercation that led to the start of indiscriminate gunfire, resulting in these persons being shot and one of the teens ultimately losing their life.
This case is still under investigation as interviews are conducted and other evidence in collected. If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706 812-1000.
