Man arrested in April 2022 fatal crash on Macon Road, Columbus Police confirm
An arrest has been made in a late April 2022 crash on Macon Road which killed a man, Columbus police officials have released.
The accident which occurred on April 29, 2022, in the area of Macon Road near its intersection with Jenkins Road left 64-year-old Diego Ramos deceased. Ramos was pronounced deceased at Piedmont Columbus Regional on April 29th. The Motor Squad responded and conducted the investigation.
Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad Unit members served arrest warrants on July 12, 2022. 42-year-old Brent Smith was arrested without incident. Smith is charged with Homicide by Vehicle 1st Degree (Felony), Driving Under the Influence (Methamphetamine), Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Following too Closely
Smith is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the Muscogee County Recorder’s Court on July 15, 2022, at 0900 hours.
