Suspicious package deemed safe at U.S. Post Office and Courthouse in downtown Columbus
A large perimeter was set up early Friday morning by Columbus patrol officers, investigators, and Bomb Squad members after a suspicious package was discovered near the front door of a 12th Avenue building.
The building, which is the United States Post Office and Courthouse, was blocked off from 7 this morning as investigators and officers looked into the package. Around 11 A.M., the suspicious package was deemed safe and removed. Inside the package was reportedly several items including a heating pad.
Local businesses in the area were evacuated and closed for several hours until the end of the investigation. The streets are now back open and business in downtown Columbus is running normal.
