Columbus woman found dead inside hotel room in Valley
A Columbus woman is being sent for an autopsy after she was found deceased inside a Valley, Alabama hotel room.
Officers with Valley Police Department and paramedics with East Alabama Fire District responded to the Quality Inn on August 11, 2022 at 4:49 A.M., located in the 3600 block of 55th Street, where they found an unresponsive female.
32-year-old Columbus woman, identified as Nicola Raye Smith, was pronounced deceased and laying on floor. Detectives of the Valley Police Department were notified and responded to the scene.
“Detectives processed the scene and spoke with witnesses,” Captain Chris Daniel with the Criminal Investigation Division at Valley Police Department said. “The Department of Forensic Sciences was contacted, and an autopsy was scheduled.”
