Courtesy: Coweta County Fire Rescue The massive fire is taking place at the Walmart, located at 2717 W Highway 54, in Peachtree City, Georgia.
Mutual aid was requested from nearby counties: Coweta, Fayetteville, and Fayette. The fire is reportedly in defensive mode after the roof of the grocery store has collapsed, according to a report by @ffshifflett on Twitter. The fire is in the four-alarm stage, which means, according to desert-fire.com, “is a catastrophic fire event that happens only a couple of times a year for most city fire departments. If a dispatch call goes out for a four-alarm fire, you can expect up to 21 emergency vehicles, including 6 battalion chiefs.”
All lanes of Highway 54 at Planterra Way and the Walmart entrance will be shut down due to the fire. No other details have been confirmed at this time.
