Homeowner shoots intruder on Ginger Circle in Troup County
A homeowner shot an intruder early Wednesday morning in Troup County, authorities said.
Deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 621 Ginger Circle in regards to a person who had been shot on September 28th at 2:00 A.M. Once deputies arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. The male received medical treatment on scene and was transported to a Columbus area hospital.
Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted and it was determined that the male identified as Chadwick David Lyons, 36 years of age, of LaGrange, forced his way into the home of 623 Ginger Circle. The home owner heard the male talking inside the home and confronted him with a handgun and fired a single shot toward Lyons, striking him at which point he fled from the home and ran toward 621 Ginger Circle.
The home owners at 621 Ginger Circle were awaked to Lyons banging on their door and they called 911 and also attempted to render aid to Lyons. Deputies and emergency personnel arrived a short time later and took over medical care.
“During the shooting investigation it was also determined that vehicles were illegally entered at two different locations and it is believed that Lyons entered those vehicles prior to breaking into the home at 623 Ginger Circle,” authorities added.
This investigation is on-going and charges are still being determined.
