A family dispute inside West Point Depot has left one dead and two others injured.
The shooting investigation began Saturday, November 12, 2022 during the evening hours after a family dispute led to gunfire ringing out inside of the West Point Depot on Third Avenue.
One person was killed and two others were injured when gunfire erupted, West Point Police Public Information Office Cedarious Thomas confirmed. The deceased was identified as 53-year-old Tarrance Holloway, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Holloway will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Medical Examiner Office for an autopsy.
The two other injured victims were transported to area hospitals and were released a short time later.
Two people, identified as Trayvon
Holloway and Erica Holloway, were arrested, but were released after detectives found the shooting of Tarrance Holloway Sr. was in self defense.
Investigators say Tarrance Holloway Sr. brought a firearm into the West Point Depot and shot his son, Terrance Holloway Jr, after a prior dispute between the two.
Upon a second attempt to fire at Holloway Jr, the wife of Tarrance Holloway Sr., Minnie Holloway, stepped in to prevent her husband from shooting her son a second time, resulting in her receiving a gun shot wound from Tarrance Sr. as well.
At this time, Trayvon and Erica Holloway, children of Tarrance Sr. and Minnie Holloway, got into a fight with Tarrance Sr., who at the time still had the firearm in his possession.
At the time of the fight, the investigation found that Tarrance Sr. attempted to fire at his children Trayvon and Erica. Trayvon was able to retrieve the firearm from Tarrance Sr. during the fight which at this time Tarrance Sr. was shot by his son Trayvon.
The press release included a thank you to other agencies, such as West Point EMS, Lanett EMS, Lanett Police Department and Georgia State Patrol for their assistance and quick response regarding this incident.
