Man killed after being struck by three vehicles on I-185 this morning
A Columbus man is deceased after an early morning motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
The crash, which occurred on Interstate 185 North at exit 10, happened around 3:00 A.M. today, Friday, December 23, 2022.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says 33-year-old Jack Crabtree was struck by three vehicles and was pronounced deceased at 3:17 A.M. by Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Dustin Harrelson.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said a domestic dispute occurred inside the vehicle, which Crabtree and a family member were driving in. Crabtree is believed to have taken off in the vehicle after an incident occurred. He later crashed the vehicle and that is when Crabtree ran on foot across the interstate. Crabtree was then struck by the vehicles. Multiple accidents occurred during this incident, including an accident where a Columbus Police Department’s cruiser was struck.
Crabtree will not be sent for an autopsy and no charges have been made at this time. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says the grandmother has been notified.
