LaGrange murder suspect arrested at Atlanta airport
LaGrange detectives say Atlanta Police arrested a murder suspect in connections to a June 2022 shooting.
The murder happened on June 24, 2022 at 1009 Hogansville Road, which left Laquan Dewberry dead and two others injured at the end of a “teen” gathering at this location. “As the event was ending at least two groups of teens became engaged in an altercation that led to the start of indiscriminate gunfire, resulting in these persons being shot and one of the teens ultimately losing their life,” police said back in June
Six months later, on December 23, 2022, Ah’Traveon Van’Quavious Stephens was arrested by Atlanta Police Department at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for one count of Felony Murder and one Count of Aggravated Assault.
Stephens was transported back to LaGrange and is currently being held at the Troup County Jail on these charges. This is still an ongoing investigation.
The LaGrange Police Department asks again if anyone has any information into the death of Laquan Dewberry to call the LaGrange Police Department or Troup County Crime Stopper.
“The LaGrange Police Department would also like to the thank the Atlanta Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of Stephens,” police added.
